Our Values
Sustainability
We build farming systems that work with nature, not against it. From integrated pest management to water-efficient irrigation and climate-smart agriculture, every solution we bring to a farmer's field is chosen because it protects the soil, water, and climate that tomorrow's harvests depend on.
Partnership
We don't succeed alone, and neither do our farmers. We build long-term relationships across the whole value chain, with the farmers we serve, the global technology partners we work with, and the governments, NGOs, and financiers who share our goal of a stronger African horticulture sector. It's also how we grow as a company: we typically enter a new market through a partnership, and build from there.
Quality
Farmers take a real risk every time they plant a seed or invest in new equipment. We take that seriously. Every input we supply and every piece of advice we give is held to a high standard, because a farmer's livelihood shouldn't depend on a product that lets them down.
Innovation
Modern agricultural technology, adapted for African conditions, is our starting point. We continuously bring in new tools, techniques, and know-how from around the world, and adapt them so they genuinely work for the smallholder and small commercial farmers we serve.
Integrity
We do business honestly and transparently, with farmers, partners, and each other. Trust is the foundation of everything we do, and it's earned one honest conversation, one reliable delivery, one kept promise at a time.
How we hold ourselves accountable
These five values sit on top of the Green Growth principles we report against every year: Efficiency and Sufficiency, Good Governance, Justice, Planetary Boundaries, and Wellbeing. Together, they support the UN Sustainable Development Goals we track most closely: Zero Hunger, Clean Water and Sanitation, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Responsible Consumption and Production.
As our Chief Sustainability Officer, Eline Talmor, put it in our Green Growth Report: “This report represents far more than a collection of numbers and activities. It tells the story of the people we work with every day.”
